About this deal

Unlike some of these other titles, however, Gliori's No Matter What is deliberately vague, when it comes to the gender of both parent and child - no pronouns, other than "you" are used in the text, and the illustrations are inconclusive - meaning that it can be interpreted in a variety of ways: as a mother-son, a mother-daughter, father-son, or father-daughter story, depending. For me it is no secret, that English books for England and the USA are often printed with minor changes (taking into account the peculiarities of the language). The book ends with the words ‘Still they shine in the evening skies, love, like starlight, never dies’. In desperation we pulled out "No matter what", naively assuming that as he loved the book, he might sit happily and listen to the story for a few minutes.

Discussions in circle time could be used where we throw a football around student to student where each child says something that the love about themselves. There are so many reasons I love this book, but I have to say, the major reason is this: this book isn’t parent/caregiver/child specific. It's always important to tell someone you love them - no matter what, even if they've behaved terribly, started to sulk, and have become a little tired and grumpy. The first two examples are easy to see why a child might feel they need reassurance that they’ll still be loved–feeling awful and/or acting out when feeling grumpy or angry (grim and grumpy, and grumpy and grizzly bear). Scots children's author and illustrator Debi Gliori - best known for her series of adorable picture-books featuring Mr.When Small, a little fox who feels "grim and grumpy," wrecks the living room, Large knows something is wrong, and a back-and-forth exchange begins, with Small posing a series of questions: Would Large still love her, if she were a bear? A heartfelt story about the unconditional love each parent feels for their child, beautifully told and exquisitely illustrated by Kate Greenaway-nominated Debi Gliori and repackaged for a new generation to enjoy.

She then received a travelling scholarship award to go to Milan, and worked as a freelance from 1984 onwards. While No Matter What is a classic parent/child love story, it’s the last two pages (about love existing no matter what) which choke me up, night after night. Small has all sorts of questions about love, and his mummy must reassure him that her love will never, ever run out – no matter what. Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. This is a lovely little tale in and of itself, but would also be very useful if you were looking to reassure an insecure child that nothing can change a parent's love, especially during a tumultuous time of change such as a divorce or bereavement. In this delightfully optimistic and feel-good book, Fox and Porcupine discover that blue skies or grey, EVERYTHING is better when they're together.
