About this deal

If done scruffy, count the miles until you notice the moisture somewhere behind your nice saloon veneers. Then you could re-glass from inside the cupboard along the forward edge of the new bulkhead and glass sections on the after edge where you can get access through cupboards etc.

Older Darts with sail number 1000 upwards will have a backing plate bonded into the super structure and this will not fall off".To speed up this process I am going to fill the holes with those little packages of silicate which will hopefully suck out all the moisture from the wood.

The OP said it was a triangle so I assume it goes down the hull behind the settee which is bonded to the hull and part of the cabinetry. When he came to look at them he decided the best repair was to inject acetone along the inside of the holes. This is something that I have concerns about but the prospect of removing the chainplates for a look and see is daunting. Benz is right, you need to get someone who knows what they're looking at to tell you what needs to be done, and then, how to do it safely.Over the years (55+) surveying, I inspected many dismastings and partials because of partial and full bulkheads shreading apart, the ones that did retain the rig was only because the chain plate bolts caught on the bottom side of the deck. I also found out that the wood extends to the level were you put the cushions, and not bellow, as you can see in the pictures. On starboard side a major part of the wooden cover is therefore destroyed and will have to be rebuild. Unless the middle layer isn´t made of foam but of Balsa wood instead there´s a danger of the wood to simply rot. when the assembly is dis-assembled, I would consider non destructive testing of the chainplate itself.

The material sandwiched in the hull tabbing and down inside the cabinetry is what supports the rigging through the chain plate. Eventually the whole system will begin to shift and move, will work fractions of millimeters up and down. Don´t forget: A King´s Cruiser – just as many sailing yachts even today – has a sandwich construction. And, BTW, when the assembly is dis-assembled, I would consider non destructive testing of the chainplate itself. Might be necessary to extend the chainplate so that some of the bolts engage original wood; you should consult with a boat repair guy who can look at it in person and advise. On port side I found the core of the roof gone in a radius of up to 10 centimeters, starboard side is a bit less severe but again I too out a lot of wet shreds of rotten Balsa wood. But instead of doing it right he opted for simply filling up the hole between the two GRP-layers of the roof with soft silicone.

There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. Thankfully it´s going to get very hot during the summer and under the tarp of the yacht so that there will be a sufficient influx of drying heat now that the chain plates have been disassembled. Being in the midst of the refit of my King´s Cruiser 33 sailing yacht a lot of items have been crossed off my list indeed. The chain plates are made of Niro-steel and a duct through the cabin roof where they are attached to massive beams made of glass-reinforced fiber which are laminated into the outer shell of the hull.As I could see after removing of the wooden cover and the faux leather at least two of the shrouds did get leaky over time allowing small amounts of water penetrate the cabin.
